With the impending office/craft room remodel coming up, I can’t help take into consideration the last remodeled portion of my home which was my bedroom. The same aesthetic value I was going for there, I intend to shoot for here.
I wanted a serene room with a calming color palette that reminded me of the Shore – which is where I’m from. The wall color is a very muted blue-green color that is just a pinch off from the DKNY quilt set I’d purchased the year prior to the remodel. In many ways, it was the inspiration for the room. I call this, “My beach house…inland.” It’s my take of employing a beachy aesthetic, inland.
So what’s my point? I’m trying to do the same thing for my home office (and for every other room in this house for that matter). I’ve already got a color picked out for the office/craft room that matches the feel of this room. And the main furnishing is already in place – it’s a desk my late step-father built. And I already have shelves that match which I will put in a different arrangement than in my previous home office.
However, the wood stain on the desk I’m using is much lighter than the bedroom furniture and I’m hoping it won’t become too washed out in the new office. I’m also having a new bookshelf put in place of the old one already there that will match the trim (We’ll be using the same trim in the office and in every room of the house since we love it). I’m not sure how it’s all going to come together.
I think I’m one of those kinds of people that course corrects; I make global decisions that are the most likely best bets but if things aren’t looking good, I’ll switch things up in a pinch. And I usually don’t know that’s going to happen until it’s right. in. front. of. me. Coincidently, my crochet designing is just the same. This is in part the reason why it takes me forever to design something. It has to be perfect. I’d rather take my time and do things “right” the first time than regret the results of it later.
I’m getting excited and eager. We had our contractor come out on Friday to take some measurements. I’m hoping to have an estimate by the end of the week. We just need to secure an electrician and then I can start kicking down walls!
looks like the remodel is a for-sure thing.
that’s good. it doesn’t sound like your unsure of what you want your space to look like.
can’t wait to see it when everything is just as you want it.
Yes, a for-sure thing. The electrician is coming over tomorrow!
