Double Crochet ("dc")

Description: Standing twice as tall as a single crochet stitch is the double crochet stitch. These stitches are found in many crochet patterns for blankets, shawls, and scarves because while they provide height, they are not as sturdy as the sc or hdc stitches. Many other decorative stitches like the shell, popcorn, or cross stitches use dc's in their formation to create raised or relief effects as well as to create visual texture.
