Shell Stitch ("shell")

Description: Also called a "Fan Stitch," shell stitches are made from a series of double or treble crochets joined at the top but not the bottom. Shells can be made from many stitches and can also have chains in between each stitch. They are used in many blanket, garment, handbag, and pillow crochet patterns. In addition, shell stitches make for nice decorative edgings for some of these same items.
