Free Crochet Video Tutorials: Learn to Crochet Video Series Front and Back Loop Stitch ("work in fr lps" and "work in bk lps") Description: Each stitch created makes a front and back loop, where the one furthest away is referred to as the "back loop." These can be used to accomplish one of two things. First of all, the loop that is not picked up can used later on to create a decorative edging. These unused loops are then called, "free loops," since they're available to use at any give time. Simply join a new yarn skein to the first free loop and work across the row, picking up stitches. Secondly, working in only one of two loops makes crocheted rows looser, and more flexible. This is especially useful when created a ribbed edging for a sweater or any other naturally curved piece which will inevitably be stretched with use. Therefore, working in the front loops only created a ridge on the backside of the work, and visa versa. Directions: Front Loop Stitch: Insert hook in top, front loop only. Back Loop Stitch: Insert hook in top, back loop only. See our Copyright Policy regarding NexStitch™ Videos |
